The Neamț region has 5 lakes of otherworldly beauty, teeming with life. Their main attractions are the outstanding scenery and the variety of bird and fish species that live here. Every year, tourists visiting Neamț County stop by the lakes to enjoy the picturesque surroundings, the lakes’ natural beauty and the wealth of wildlife.

[**Izvorul Muntelui Lake**](https://neamt.tesseramo.com/articole/lacul-izvorul-muntelui-bicaz-judetul-neamt), also known as Bicaz Lake, lies a few kilometres upstream from the town of Bicaz, on the upper reaches of the Bistrița River. The Izvorul Muntelui reservoir is the largest artificial lake created on Romania’s inland rivers.

Near the Bicaz dam, a harbour offers short boat cruises on the lake, as well as boats, motorboats and pedalos for hire. Fishing enthusiasts will also find plenty of designated fishing spots here. Visitors can **stay on the lakeshore**.

[**Bâtca Doamnei Lake**](https://neamt.tesseramo.com/articole/lacul-batca-doamnei-judetul-neamt) is an important feature of the town of Piatra Neamț, serving a protective purpose while also offering wonderful views. From here, you can admire a panorama of the town on one side and Mount Ceahlău in all its splendour on the other. Beside the lake stands Bâtca Doamnei Hill, where the ruins of the Dacian fortress at Bâtca Doamnei can also be found.

[**Vaduri Lake**](https://neamt.tesseramo.com/articole/lacul-vaduri-judetul-neamt) lies in Neamț County, with Preluca and Pângărăcior upstream and Vădurele downstream. Vaduri Lake plays an important role in preserving biodiversity and natural habitats across eastern Europe.

[**Pângărați Lake**](https://neamt.tesseramo.com/articole/lacul-pangarati-judetul-neamt) lies in the transverse section of the Bistrița valley, with the Stânișoarei Mountains to the north and the Gotmanu Mountains to the south. The lake formed on the upper reaches of the Bistrița River and is the first reservoir downstream of the Dimitrie Leonida hydroelectric power station at Stejaru. Several rest stops have been created for visitors, where they can admire the many species of birds that live here.

[**Cuejdel Lake**](https://neamt.tesseramo.com/articole/drumetie-in-neamt-mergand-spre-lacul-cuejdel) formed on the Cuiejdel stream and is Romania's largest naturally dammed lake, situated in the Stânișoarei Mountains, 25 km from Piatra Neamț, within Gârcina commune. Set in the stillness of fir forests amid a wild landscape, with the appearance of a submerged forest, Cuiejdel Lake formed under the same conditions as Red Lake.
