On Monday, 24 January 2011, the **“Hora Unirii” performance** will take place in Piatra Neamț, starting at 14.00. The event will be held at the headquarters of the “Petrodava” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and will celebrate the 152nd anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities – a pivotal moment in the history of the Romanian people. At that time, Alexandru Ioan Cuza was unanimously elected prince of both Principalities. This Union was made possible by the exemplary alignment of interests and aspirations between the people and the nation’s great men.

On this occasion, the **“Floricică de la Munte” folk ensemble** will present several dance suites from Moldavia and Muntenia. Soloists Brândușa Diaconu-Chiriță, Georgiana Axinte-Șerban and Ioan Dascălu have also been invited to join them. Accompanied by the traditional folk band of the “Floricică de la Munte” ensemble, they will perform songs representative of the two ethnofolkloric regions.

The event will also include talks on the significance of this occasion in Romania’s history, given by teacher Gheorghe Radu, serving officer Captain Bogdan Jinga and retired Colonel Mircea Mihail. The show will conclude with a traditional Horă a Unirii, marking the importance of this occasion.

The two organisers, the **“Carmen Saeculare” Centre for Culture** and the **“Petrodava” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Neamț**, invite you to join them for the “Hora Unirii” show, dedicated to all Romanians, and to celebrate together this event, which marked an important step in the struggle to establish the Romanian nation state.
