Invasive Species from Romania of Interest to the EU
Temporary exhibition
The travelling exhibition Specii invazive din România de interes pentru U.E. brings to the attention of the visiting public the problem of invasive plant and animal species, or those with invasive potential, reported on the country's territory and of interest at European level. Through the infographic materials and biogroups in the exhibition, information is presented on the origin of invasive species, the pathways of entry into Romania’s flora and fauna, the habitats invaded and their impact on native biodiversity, human health and the economy.
The infographic materials were developed within the project Appropriate Management of Invasive Species in Romania, in accordance with EU Regulation 1143/2014 on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through POIM 2014-2020, implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, in partnership with the University of Bucharest.
The exhibition was designed and produced by the Eco-Museum Research Institute “Gavrilă Simion” Tulcea in collaboration with the University of Bucharest.
The platforms that the public can access to report invasive alien species observed around homes, settlements or in the wild are also presented.
The exhibition aims to inform and educate the public about invasive alien species and preventing their spread, and to encourage voluntary public participation in monitoring and efforts to eradicate these species.
The public is invited to the opening of the exhibition which will take place on Friday, 03 March 2023, at 11:00, at the premises of the Natural Sciences Museum Piatra-Neamț.
The exhibition will be open from 03 March to 30 April 2023.
