
Hidden behind the massive stone walls from Bicaz Gorge (Cheile Bicazului) the area where Barnadu village is located is a true jewel in terms of old traditional architecture. Here you’ll have the chance to admire the traditional construction style that is still used by the locals. The construction material used is mainly wood: this element plays a vital role in the architecture of the area.
The house represents a central and vital element in the rural life and building it is a sum of many aspects starting with the financial involvement, continuing with the hard manual work to build it and ending with the desire of preserving the traditions and customs. Here, the old tradition of wood houses adapts to modern times because of the significance of wood that is related to health and “the house” as an entity.
