The Tarcau Area – Neamt County
Presentation:the Tarcau Mountains are less known and visited by tourists because of their position between the Ceahlau Mountain and Cheile Bicazului. The beauty of these places is presented more in the books of our greatest writers. The only way to really feel how beautiful and unique this place is would be to walk across it, to climb the abrupt valleys, to follow the cold mountain rivers. This is the way to know the traditions and customs of this place, to breathe the same air as the people who are living here, to experience a piece of what it means to live in the mountains.
Location:the Tarcau Mountains are part from the central group of the Eastern Carpathians and are located on two counties: the south-west part of the Neamt County and the north-west part of the Bacau County. The length of these mountains is about 65 km, 40 km width and approximately 1810 square km. the natural borders of these mountains are the Bicaz Valley to the north, Damuc Valley to the west, the Trotus Valley to the south and the Bistrita and Tazlau valleys to the east.
