Kayak lovers’ competition on Lake Bicaz

Bicaz Kayak Fest, 7–8 June, 8th edition

The event brings together this year over 150 participants from all corners of the country on one of the largest and most spectacular lakes in the nation, a natural symbol of Neamț County, surrounded by the peaks of Ceahlău and the dense forests of the Eastern Carpathians, Izvorul Muntelui Lake.

Bicaz Kayak Fest is not only a sporting competition, but also a celebration of Romania’s outdoor community, which places emphasis on respect for nature, solidarity and inclusion.

This year’s edition also has a special guest: Marin Chirazi and his 2,600 km adventure on the Danube.

Professor Marin Chirazi from Iași is the adventurer who recently achieved a remarkable feat: kayaking the entire length of the River Danube, from its sources in Germany to its mouth in the Black Sea – 2,600 kilometres covered in 23 days.

You can hear about his entire experience directly from him on Saturday, 7 June, at 18:00, when he will give an inspirational presentation about his journey, an event open to everyone who loves nature, exploration and authentic courage.

What else is new at this year’s edition? A lesson in solidarity and determination, as people with disabilities will also take part in some of the competition’s events, a remarkable demonstration of inclusion and inner strength.

What else will participants and festival visitors find during the two days of fun on Lake Bicaz?

Bicaz Kayak Fest 2025 is aimed at all nature lovers, not only those passionate about water sports, and promises to be much more than that – a manifesto for responsible tourism, inclusive communities and the joy of living in harmony with nature.

And, because the event is open to the general public, visitors will find workshops for children, music, interactive activities and opportunities to socialise for all ages. The organisers invite journalists, photographers and bloggers to attend, to document and share the story of a community united by love for water, nature and people.
