Equestrian Competition at the “Virgil Bărbuceanu” Equestrian Centre in Piatra Neamț 2011

2 min read

During 11–14 August 2011, the “Virgil Bărbuceanu” Equestrian Centre will host the year’s final equestrian competition, comprising the National Senior Championships, a Grand Prix round, the “Virgil Bărbuceanu” Trophy and the “TCE 3 Brazi” Cup.

More than 90 competitors from across the country have confirmed their participation in this event. Classes cater for all categories of competitors: children, amateurs, women riders and seniors. The competition gives riders the opportunity to demonstrate their talent at the equestrian centre in Piatra Neamț.

The equestrian competition will begin on Thursday, 11 August, with classes running over the four days from early morning until the final riders compete in the evening. The town of Piatra Neamț will be represented by two competitors who have entered the amateur and novice horse classes. A parade of participants will also take place on Saturday, 13 August. The procession will stop at the tomb of Virgil Bărbuceanu, marking 7 years since his death.

The four sporting contests at the “Virgil Bărbuceanu” Equestrian Centre were brought together following changes to the competition calendar by the Romanian Equestrian Federation. The year’s most important competition is the National Senior Championships Final, while the Grand Prix round allows competitors to earn points towards the final individual and team standings. Individual results count towards the “TCE 3 Brazi” Cup, while team results count towards the “Virgil Bărbuceanu” Trophy.

The event offers 4 days of almost continuous competition, full of suspense and imagination, as riders and their horses delight us with spectacular performances. The organisers invite you to join them for this equestrian show, where spectators can watch a wide variety of contests and much more. Admission is free.
