Steaua sus rasare Festival 2011

The 43rd edition of the “Steaua sus răsare” Festival of Traditions and Customs will take place on Friday, 23 December 2011, starting at 10.00.

For over four decades, this festival has brought together leading groups from areas with a long folk tradition. This edition will feature 16 groups from the counties of Neamț, Iași, Suceava, Botoșani and Argeș, performing the traditional repertoire associated with this time of renewal. The groups taking part in the parade are: “Căiuții” from Tudora–Botoșani, “Sumanarii” from Trifești-Neamț, “Cerbul și ursul” from Ceplenița–Iași, “Urșii giroveni” from Girov-Neamț, “Datina” from Breaza–Suceava, “Alaiul de datini și obiceiuri” from Tașca–Neamț, the traditional dance and customs ensemble from Tazlău–Neamț, “Alaiul de datini și obiceiuri” from Răucești–Neamț, the “Miorița” traditions and customs procession from Piatra Șoimului-Neamț, “Izvoarele Borcutului” from Borca-Neamț, “Arnăuții” from Văratec-Neamț, the “Bratia” folk ensemble from Vlădești-Argeș, the traditions and customs ensemble from Ștefan cel Mare-Neamț, “Mugurașii Mărginenilor” from Mărgineni-Neamț, the traditions and customs group from Târgu-Frumos-Iași and the “Floricică de la munte” folk ensemble of the “Carmen Saeculare” Centre for Culture and Arts Neamț.

The festival has become a traditional event celebrating age-old customs associated with Christmas and New Year.

The groups' parade route is as follows: Teatrul Tineretului – House of Culture – History Museum – Mihai Eminescu Boulevard – Ceahlău Hotel – Stephen the Great Square. At the end of the traditions and customs parade, the groups will give a performance in Stephen the Great Square.
