
“Duo melos” recital in the concert season
The “Carmen Saeculare” Centre for Culture and Arts and the “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, Piatra Neamț Branch, are resuming the recital series in the 2022-2023 concert season.
On Wednesday, 3 April 2024, from 17:00, music lovers will have another opportunity to hear “Duo MELOS”, a chamber ensemble comprising Titus Flueraș (violin) and Constantin Andrei (guitar), in the Cupola Hall of the G.T. Kirileanu County Library Neamț. The programme includes works by Napoléon Coste, Niccolo Paganini and Maximo Diego Pujol.

Titus Flueraș is an associate professor with a doctorate in the violin department of the “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. A graduate of Cluj's violin school, the “Sigismund Toduță” Music High School (1991), he continued his studies at the “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music, completing his Master's studies under Ștefan Ruha.
Titus Flueraș has won numerous prizes at national and international violin competitions: First Prize – Timișoara (1986), Second Prize – București (1987), Second Prize – Cluj-Napoca (1988), the “Transilvania” Foundation Special Prize at the “Sigismund Toduță” Competition (Cluj-Napoca, 2003), First Prize at the “Citta di Stresa” Competition – Italia (1985, 1986), and the Gold Medal in Johanesbourg – Africa de Sud (1993). He has also performed as a soloist with the philharmonic orchestras of Cluj-Napoca, Arad, Satu Mare and Oradea, and has given concerts and recitals at home and abroad: Franța, Italia, Olanda, Austria, Spania, Belgia, Ungaria and Africa de Sud.
In the winter of 2003, the “Mozart” Philharmonic Orchestra in Viena invited him on a tour of China, where he performed as a soloist.
The year 2009 brought an impressive achievement: Titus Flueraș was the only Romanian selected from over 3,000 candidates worldwide for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. He was also appointed the orchestra's leader and performed with it at the famous “Carnegie Hall” in New York.
Constantin Andrei is an associate professor with a doctorate in the guitar department of the “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca and its Piatra Neamț Branch. He has an extensive record of achievements, having participated in various artistic events in Romania and abroad, including the Classical Guitar Festival in Sinaia (1983-1990) and “Primăvara Muzicală” in Praga (1990).
He has attended masterclasses given by guitarists John Duarte, Costas Cotsiolis, Michel Sadanowsky, Pablo Marquez and Claire Stancu Delerue.
He has performed as a soloist under conductors Horia Andreescu, Ilarion Ionescu-Galați, Petre Sbârcea and Robert Houlihan.
He has an extensive discography and has won numerous prizes at festivals and competitions. Since 1990, he has served on the juries of prestigious guitar festivals and competitions across the country, and has also been invited to give recitals and masterclasses in Franța, Italia, Germania, Austria, Spania, Belgia and Serbia.
Since 2000, he and his brothers Aurelian and Adrian have performed as the guitar trio “Trio Andrei”, giving numerous recitals at Romania's leading musical institutions.
His name is also associated with the establishment of the National Classical Guitar Festival in Cluj-Napoca in October 2003, and, from 2005, the “Transilvania” International Guitar Festival, of which he is the founder and artistic director.
