Performance by the French folk dance group “Les Jolievette”

On Saturday, 2 April 2011, Piatra Neamț will host a preview of this year’s “Cântă bucium pe Ceahlău” folk festival and competition for local pupils. The event is organised by the School Inspectorate Neamț and Neamț County Council, with French visitors from the Marne region, the folk dance ensemble “Les Jolievette”, as special guests.

The event will begin on Saturday morning, with several workshops bringing together members of ensembles from the county’s colleges and the visiting ensemble from the Marne region. Folk dance ensembles from the city’s colleges, including the National College of Computer Science, “Gheorghe Cartianu” Technical College and others, will join the adults from the French folk dance ensemble for several workshops in the Forestry Technical College’s assembly hall.

These meetings aim to provide an exchange of experience that is as useful and interesting as possible for both hosts and guests, building on longstanding partnerships between the groups.

During their stay in Piatra Neamț, the 18 members of the group from the Marne region and the 2 representatives of the French authorities will also have the opportunity to visit and get to know the Neamț region.

As part of this event, on Saturday, 2 April, from 15.00, the main hall of Neamț County Council will host a folk performance by groups from Neamț County representing Școala de Arte și Meserii Vânători-Neamț, Palatul Copiilor Piatra Neamț and Liceul de Artă “Victor Brauner”, last year’s festival winners. From 16.30, the folk dance group “Les Jolievette” will perform in the same hall.
