Short description

The Museum Mihail Sadoveanu from the village Manastirea Neamt was first open in 1966 and it’s located in the house where the writer spends his last years. The building was made by Visarion Puiu in 1937 on the hill called Vovidenia, at 1 km from the Monastery Neamt. The house was actually a guest house that belong to the monastery. In 1949 the house was the subject of a donation made to the writer. After his passing, the house was donated to the village to be used as a museum.

The exhibition of the museum still maintains the atmosphere of that period, furniture pieces, the piano, the samurai sword, an ivory chess, documents, personal belongings, photos, the portraits of both parents of the writer, historical documents from 1500, the library with all the books of Mihail Sadoveanu (75 volumes) and a few first editions (61).

The museum was founded with the support of the Sadoveanu family and it combines the sentimental value with the historical work of Sadoveanu.
