It is said that Panaghia was not a rock from the beginning, but a small and delicate girl, born – dear little thing – into a poor family in a hamlet at the foot of Ceahlău.

Long ago, no one knows exactly when, somewhere at the foot of Ceahlău, there lived a boyar so rich that even he could no longer keep track of his boundless wealth.

If you don’t yet feel the festive atmosphere, know that man sanctifies the place and sometimes even the times, and for that reason we have decided to greet you with fresh news from the Neamț region…

If you climb the mountain Ceahlau on the route bookmarked with a red line, that starts in the Durau resort – Cabin Fantanele – Piatra Lata – Panaghia – under Toaca Peak and goes up to the Dochia…

Rolling hills, deciduous forests, pastures with flocks of sheep and the waters of the Cuejdel dammed by a hillside that slid across its course: a picturesque landscape of a mountain lake formed not long ago.

Ceahlău, the mountain that most powerfully captivates the eye and stirs the imagination of hikers more than any other Romanian peak, rises like a great dome of the Eastern Carpathians and the whole Moldavian land across the Neamț region.

At the western gateway, as you arrive from Ardeal, an impressive landscape greets you, opening the way to the beautiful land of Neamț: Bicaz Gorge.

Along the course of the river Bistrița, from Poiana Largului to just short of Bicaz, lies Romania’s largest artificial lake created on its inland rivers: “Izvorul Muntelui” Lake.

The holidays are approaching and surely most of us are eagerly awaiting the winter break. Whether it is longer or shorter, we all need a moment of respite from the stresses of everyday life.
